Tour Details

The Plan:

The Start: To spend about one week unsupported bicycle touring with my wife (Swati. AKA Swatz. AKA Shonu)! Yup! You read that correctly! Swatz will be joining me on this door-to-door tour installment! This is her first bicycle tour of any kind so I commend her on embracing the idea with typical Swati enthusiasm! Our journey begins at the front of our home in Oak Park, IL.	Home! Oak Park, IL
Indiana Dunes	Enjoy Indiana: Indiana bound! Let's hope Gary isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Swatz might reach her peak speed through this area! :-) We will stay one evening at the beautiful Indiana State Park Dunes where we plan on getting our feet sandy and wet! :-)
Pure Michigan: We continue to hug the coast north-northeast until we reach Michigan. "Pure Michigan". I am looking forward to all the quaint towns through this stretch. I am especially looking forward to Holland, MI as I worked for a dutch company "Philips" for many years. This town has a huge Dutch influence with windmills and tulips and will likely transport me back to the days when I traveled to the Netherlands! Milwaukee, WI	Escape to (from) Wisconsin: After a brisk 2.5 hour cruise across the lake we arrive in cheese head heaven! WISCONSIN! Home of the Fudge Packers! :-) All kidding aside, I have never really spent any time in this city. I suppose when Chicago is so close to home (green line) I never had a need to. That said, we will have the better half of a day to see the sights that are Milwaukee.
The Land of Lincoln: After heading south and escaping Racine we will reach the Land of Lincoln... ILLINOIS! We intend on staying at Illinois State Beach Campground. Another little slice of heaven so close to home that I have never visited! Man I suck! ;-) We then make the final push home! Yeah! Swatz and I made it! (I best be quiet as I don't want to jinx us!) :-)	Home! Oak Park, IL
